First off, let me send out my thanks for helping me resolve my font issues. Greatly appreciated by an Asian who is not tech smart, imagine that...
Anyways, I would like to write about my weekend which started Thur night. Thursday night, May 7, 2009, was the first Thursday of the month. Therefore it could mean none other than... Bike Night! Every month, the first Thur they post a theme somewhere on the web and literally hundreds of kids would dress up and ride through downtown. Driving a car down either of the one way streets is near impossible. Cars would be stuck at intersections for minutes with bikes cutting them off trying to tell you to get the heck out of there and so forth. The idea is so brilliant yet original it just calls for good times and laughter. Kids would drive little motored trucks, that look like they were meant for toddlers, blasting hip hop music from it. And countless number of people would get pulled over by cops for law violations; most of them BUI, which I think stands for Biking Under the Influence. Not quite sure, but nonetheless, its good stuff.
Moving on to Friday, I'm not sure if I remember it all, but I will give it a shot. I had lunch downtown at Firestone, which makes the best tri-tip sandwich ever, with two of my recruiters and a friend who joined the Army with me. That was a good lunch with interesting conversations. However, a point was brought up that made me feel uncomfortable with my future and what might be a result of my current state. But I'll talk about that in another blog if I feel necessary. After lunch I ran to the beach where I met the guys from the Henderson House. Best group of guys I might ever meet. The run was only about 4 miles, but it still kicked my butt. But the beach was gorgeous. I'm gonna miss these California beaches when I'm suffering from the heat and humidity in Georgia. No doubt about it. And to my knowledge, that's all I can muster out of my dazzled mind.
What's next, Saturday? Well, I traveled about 30 miles to a small town called Paso Robles where I got some ice cream and had a solid several hour quiet time. It was down right legit. I specifically went to that park, not only because it was lovely, but it brought back memories of tour. I remember we walked a few blocks from where we were staying and we all got ice cream from cold stones and just hung out. Mike also tackled me from the side and thought it was hilarious and what not. Haha. So yeah, I got ice cream from cold stones and sat and observed and basked in Gods glory for at least 3 hours. It was wonderful. I can't go on about it. There was a little boys birthday party going on and another mom watching her kid that really stuck out to me. Everything was just... Beautiful. Anyways, back to reality now. I come back to my house and is soon reunited with my best buddy Luke where we spend hours making a song and recording it to send to his mother the following day. That was loads of fun.
And finally, Sunday, Mothers day. Today wasn't as eventful as the past few, but it was a good time to catch my breath. I worked on a lot of HW in the morning and kinda hung out. Nothing really happened till about 8 where my roommate Travis and I went to the Henderson House where we caravaned to Sunset Theaters, a drive-in theater right off the 101. We had about 24 people all come together and watched Wolverine. It was a decent movie, but the fact that we loaded up on couches and blankets was, I think, the best part of the night. We even smuggled one guy in who was, ironically, Mexican. Hahaha. On our way back, however, a couch flew out of the truck I was riding in and we didn't even realize till we got home. Turns out it was on the freeway; so we regrouped and set out to retrieved it. And that, my friends, will be the conclusion of my Mothers Day weekend. A fairly perfect weekend that was right on target.
